BIO

Dries Segers (°1990, BE) lives and works in Brussels. In his work, he explores the value of (non-)human and botanical characters to start new narratives. He works with various photographic media and print-techniques to generate stories and translates them into light or heat sensitive objects, textiles, publishing, photographic prints, and installations.

His work can be seen as storytelling using matter as language. In some works the matter is visible (rain, air, water, trees) in other cases he uses and activates invisibles (light waves, pollutions, borders). While adapting these matters he tells stories about collective interaction, ownership, control, and protection. Besides being a storyteller and a matter bender, Segers is also developing self made print techniques, inks and camera systems to interact with these invisibles, creating a practice of what matter becomes matter, which worlds world worlds?
